Vibrant and expressive with notes of blackberry, cassis, pepper, licorice, and violets. The palate offers the indelible finesse that only a cool-climate Syrah can deliver: a rich, full and well-structured red wine with an incredibly generous, evolving finish.
Domaine des Entrefaux Rouge 2017 (SRP $26.99)
The Tardy family has been growing grapes for generations, but they only began to estate-bottle in 1979. Today the 61-acre family domain is under the care of the always jovial Francois Tardy and his wife Anne. The domain achieved organic certification in 2012. They are meticulous in both the vineyard and cellar: all the vineyards are organically and biodynamically farmed, and in the cellar, their cuvées are separated by vine age and handled with great care
This wine offers delightful aromas of crushed black cherries, black pepper, violets, sweet spice and a hint of black olive. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel that evolves into a long finish of dark cherries, blackberries, and dried spices.
Maison Les Alexandrins Rouge 2016 (SRP $26.00)
Maison Les Alexandrins is the collaboration of Nicolas Jaboulet(6th generation winegrower, Tain l’Hermitage), Guillaume Sorrel(Domaine Sorrel, Hermitage) and Alexandre Caso (Terroir Specialist, Northern Rhône). The three came together in 2012 when they began working parcel by parcel in Crozes-Hermitage for Maison Nicolas Perrin. They share a deep knowledge and passion for the terroir of the Northern Rhône, an appreciation that inspired them to work together to craft wines that embody this pure northern Rhône classicism.
Seductively deep purple, this wine exudes dense notes of blackberries, violets, and sweet spices. These flavors give way to the palate, which is well-rounded with a velvety, satisfying and mineral finish. The 2016 vintage was an excellent growing year, noted for producing age-worthy wines of balance, structure, and freshness.
