Rosé in a can is so glam when served up Hollywood style. Recently I had the opportunity to attend the launch party of Coppola Winery’s Sofia Brut Rosé. The spring soirée was held on the patio of Ladurée in NYC. When Sofia Coppola invites you to attend, you get all dressed up and do as Dom Pérignon would do, “come quickly to taste the stars”. In this case the star was Sofia Coppola herself launching her new Sofia Brut Rosé.
Upon meeting Sofia you immediately sense that she is easy to get along with, sweet, ambitious and passionate. She proudly announced that the Sofia line of wines was a gift to her from her father, Francis Ford Coppola. She says, “This 2016 Sofia Brut Rosé is styled after my favorite sparkling rosés of Loire and Alsace in France, I spend a lot of time in France and have always loved sparkling rosé.”
The Sofia Blanc de Blanc was one of the first to revolutionize wine in a can ten years ago. The Sofia brand is a hugely popular line within the Coppola portfolio of wines. Since 2004 the the line has expanded to include Rosé, Riesling, Chardonnay and a Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine.
The wine is offered in a can or bottle and is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is a dry lightly effervescent sparkling wine with lovely fruit and floral aromas. On the palate it is crisp, refreshing and fun. Notes of strawberries, pomegranate, peach, and cloves subtly tempt the palate. The Brut Rosé is offered in 750ml bottles ($19) or in a pack of four minis 187ml ($20) in elegant peach hued cans. The cans come with their own straws so you can grab and go and carry with you whenever you are in the mood for bubbles.
The Sofia Brut Rosé pairs perfectly with cheese, charcuterie, shellfish, or spicy Asian cuisine. The Brut Rosé adds a touch of elegance to a summer picnic, backyard party, bridal shower or just lounging poolside. Or do as Sofia Coppola and serve the Brut Rosè at a garden party with sliders, a Parisienne cake and macarons. So stock up on this fun chic bubbly launched just in time for the summer festivities.
